1998: Malte Visnek had just glued on the last piece on the little plastic-model of a 2CV Volkswagen car. Now it was time for colouring it, but when he applied the paint it would clump and the end-result turned out messy and disappointing. The paint had completely ruined the nice model and in uncontrolled frustration Malte grapped the little paintbucket and slammed it onto the wall where it would splatter and run down onto the bedsheets. Sad and scared of his own reaction Malte ended all kind of creative expression for the next eight years. The many plastic-models were destroyed in one final battlescene and a box with a childhood of drawings of sharply-teethed monsters and heavy-armed war-machines was placed on the attic in Copenhagen.

2006: After inheriting an analogue camera Malte slowly started an interest in images. At home he would set up photoshoots and during nights he sneaked around on constructionsites capturing images of the abandoned atmosphere. The lust for creativity was slowly re-awakened and even pen and papper were brought back from the attic.

2011: Five short videos of Malte grapping an electric fence, falling down a hill and likewise accidents captured on a lousy video-camera got him accepted at the academy of fine arts in Stockholm. Here, and at the exchange studies in Reykjavik, he would test different styles of artforms varying from performance, video, photography, graphics, sculpture, objects, collage and drawing, whereof most of it would end up hidden in a drawer. After three years of pretending to others and himself of having a clue about his artistic work Malte decided to not continue at the master-programme but leave the artworld behind. The bachelor-diploma was stewed away in a new box alongside the works of the previous years, and he began working as a window-cleaner instead.

2016: Many dirty windows were cleaned but still Malte would spend his sparetime in company of pens and papper and the drawer soon got full again. So now, with encouragement from close ones, an ongoing creative sparkle and a website, Malte says; the drawers and boxes will have it no more!, and therefore here you have it; a selection of the incredible artwork of Malte Visnek.
